On February 8, the Guangzhou Internet Court in China handed down a decision in the first case in the country involving copyright infringement by an artificial intelligence (AI) system. The argument was whether the generative AI platform was liable for infringement of works protected by DA by allowing its users to generate images that were "identical or substantially similar" to the design.
