Description

In an increasingly digital world, intellectual property plays a key role.

In this context, it is extremely relevant to know the aspects of the interface between the IP system and new technologies in order to convert intangible assets into a truly strategic tool.

In this six-meeting online course, the Dannemann Siemsen Institute (IDS) teaches you how to do it.

Program

  • 22/04 - SOFTWARE

teachers Gustavo Piva e Bruno Holfinger

The information society is driven by software and applications. Whether paying a bill, ordering a taxi or visiting a social network, the individual's interaction with such programs is virtually continuous. This makes software the central element of new business models and an essential vector of the new economy. In this class, we will address the legal protection of software and inventions implemented by computer programs, explaining how to combine different intellectual property institutes to protect them.

  • 24/04 - ALGORITMOS

teachers Gustavo Piva e Maria Malburg

Although we may not realize it, algorithms are increasingly present in our daily lives. From the search tool to choosing a book on a digital platform, algorithms help decision making and have become an important competitive advantage for companies. In this class we will explain what an algorithm is, what it is for, and under what circumstances it can be protected.

  • 29/04 - INTELIGÊNCIA ARTIFICIAL

    teacher Rodrigo Carneiro

Artificial intelligence has been producing a real revolution, bringing a wave of innovation and creativity to multiple segments. On the other hand, such technology creates numerous challenges for intellectual property professionals, including ownership issues, forms of protection, infringement, and liability for damages caused to third parties. In this class, you will learn about these discussions and learn how to navigate the topic.

  • 02/05 - BASE DE DADOS

    teacher Filipe Fonteles

Data is the most valuable asset of the digital economy. Through big data and CRM tools, companies are radically transforming the way they interact with their customers. In addition to privacy issues, one wonders: Does such a database deserve legal protection? If so, through which institutes? What scope of protection exists? These are some questions this class proposes to answer.

  • 06/05 - BLOCKCHAIN

teachers Felipe Dannemann e Yannick Schweizer

The blockchain has revolutionized the way transactions are performed through a system whose main features are immutability, decentralization, and transparency. It is a technology that can offer new solutions for the protection of intellectual property assets. In this class, you will learn how this is done.

  • 08/05 - INTERNET DAS COISAS

teachers Natalia Barzilai e Mariana Mostardeiro

The Internet of Things (IoT) is already a reality, and it is estimated that its use will increase exponentially. By 2020, more than 30 billion devices will be connected, forming a broad Internet-based technology and infrastructure network. By its very nature, IoT has several patent implications, including issues related to protection, jurisdiction, and interoperability. It is also a breeding ground for the proliferation of so-called Standard Essential Patents (SEPs). In this class, we will address these issues and explain the current stage of jurisprudence on the topic.
