Agenda IDS – “Mercado Livre: Brand Protection Program and Anti-Counterfeiting Alliance.”
Agenda IDS 2024: Dannemann Siemsen Institute (IDS) welcomes experts to speak about the programs promoted by the e-commerce platform Mercado Livre, namely the “Brand Protection Program” and the “Anti-Counterfeiting Alliance.”
Both initiatives aim to assist intellectual property owners in protecting their rights on the platform.
Mercado Livre is the largest e-commerce technology company in Latin America, operating in 18 countries with over 100 million users. The online platform provides solutions for buying, selling, listing, shipping, and paying for goods and services, catering to both businesses and individuals.
To debate the topics, Dannemann Siemsen partner Fernanda Salomão Mascarenhas will moderate a panel with two experts on the subject:
Speakers:
Guadalupe Garcia Crespo is an Intellectual Property Manager at Mercado Livre. She is an attorney, graduated from the University of Buenos Aires, and an Industrial Property Agent. She holds a master’s degree in Intellectual Property Law from Austral University (thesis pending) and has completed the Internet Law and Communications Technology Program at the University of San Andrés. Additionally, she was awarded a scholarship to participate in the IP Protection Lawyers Training Course by the Japanese Patent Office.
Bárbara Castro is a Senior Intellectual Property Analyst at Mercado Livre. She holds a degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), a postgraduate qualification in Intellectual Property from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ), and a master’s degree in Media and Streaming Platforms Regulation from the Rui Barbosa Foundation.

Fernanda Salomão Mascarenhas: is a lawyer and partner at Dannemann Siemsen, with 18 years of experience in Intellectual Property Law. Specializing in trademarks and unfair competition, Fernanda advises both national and international clients across a wide range of industries, including pharmaceutical, automotive, hygiene and cosmetics, electronics and technology, food and beverages, entertainment and media, marketing and advertising, among others.
