Rafael focuses his practice in the strategic management of Intelectual Property rights portfolios, with a particular dedication to high-profile complex matters in the field of trademarks.
Rafael has also been very active in local and international associations. Currently, Rafael is member of the board of AIPPI – Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle, one of the most traditional associations in this field, where he acts as Assistant Reporter General.
In addition, Rafael has served for several years as the Chair of AIPPI’s Standing Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution, co-Reporter of the AIPPI Brazilian Group, Coordinator of ABPI’s Trademark Committee, as well as the Coordinator of the ABAPI Trademark Working Group.
Professor on the Lato Sensu Postgraduate Course in Intellectual Property Law in Pontifice Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Rafael lectures in the modules on Legal Protection of Distinctive Signs and Trade Names, as well as on Intellectual Property Contractual Modalities.
Having graduated in Law from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, with an extension course in Intellectual Property from the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV-RJ), Rafael has a master’s degree in International Law of Integration from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) having been approved with distinction, after defending his dissertation entitled “International Commercial Arbitration and Intellectual Property: Arbitrability and Practical Issues in Brazil and in Compared Law”.
Rafael serves national and international clients from multiple industry fields, in particular in the segments of consumer electronics and technologies, automotive, food, pharmaceutical, entertainment and media, and marketing and advertising, among others. He also participates in national and international associations such as ABAPI, ABPI, AIPPI, ASIPI, INTA and OAB-RJ.
In recognition of his work, he was cited in national and international rankings and publications, including WTR 1000, where he has been cited since 2019.
