IDS attended the 43rd ABPI International Congress
The Dannemann Siemsen Institute (IDS) took part in the 43rd International Congress of the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI). The Congress, which took place on August 20, 21 and 22, had as its theme “Intellectual Property as an inducer of social equality”, and celebrated the 60th anniversary of the ABPI.
IDS, as a supporter, was present at the congress with a stand and was represented by the institute’s executive director, Filipe Fonteles – who was also one of the event’s scientific coordinators – by its academic coordinator, Patricia Porto, and by its administrative supervisor, Michelle Brum.
IDS was delighted to welcome several congress participants to its stand, who had the opportunity to learn about the institute’s work and its projects, which include: publications; webinars; seminars; lectures; classes; courses, among countless other activities aimed at disseminating intellectual property (IP) education in the country.
The event opened with a speech by futurologist Crystal Washington, and featured several lectures and debates on relevant and current IP and related topics, such as: public IP policies; economics and innovation; artificial intelligence; protection of personal data; high-profile trademarks; industrial designs; patents; protection of test data; cultivars; IP in the courts, among many other topics.
The Congress also featured lectures by STF Justice Luís Roberto Barroso and Reinaldo Bulgarelli, executive secretary of the LGBTI+ Business and Rights Forum.
The final debate of the event was on the IP of the future and the closing panel was made up of the director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the executive director of the World Intellectual Property Organization, the CEO of the International Trademark Association, the president of ABPI and Dannemann Siemsen partner Luiz Henrique do Amaral.
At the end of the event, it was also announced that the 44th ABPI congress will be held in Recife, Pernambuco.
