Ana Lúcia de Sousa Borda is an industrial property agent and lawyer and has been a partner at the Dannemann Siemsen firm since 2000.
Having graduated from the Cândido Mendes university, Ana Lúcia is a specialist in Industrial Property Law from the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) and completed her MBA in Branding from the Rio Branco Integrated Faculties.
Her specialisation concluding work, “A evolução Legislativa e Jurisprudencial das indicações geográficas no Brasil – uma análise crítica” [The Legislative and Case Law Evolution of geographical indications in Brazil – a critical analysis], was awarded a prize in the competition organised by the Centre of Studies for the Development of the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry in Argentina (CEDIQUIFA). Ana Lúcia also featured among winners of the competition “World Intellectual Property Day”, and her article “Branding e Propriedade Intelectual – O Uso do Naming e da Propriedade Intelectual na Criação e Proteção de Ativos Intangíveis, Notadamente de Marcas de Produtos e Serviços” [Branding and Intellectual Property – The Use of Naming and Intellectual Property in the Creation and Protection of Intangible Assets, Notably Product and Service Marks], was also awarded a prize by CEDIQUIFA and published in the Colección de Propriedad Industrial e Intelectual da Asociación de Derechos Intelectuales (ASDIN) – 2nd Semester 2017, 1st Semester 2018.
Ana Lúcia de Sousa Borda is coordinator of the Trademark Working Group at ABAPI, a member of the Geographical Indications Committee at ECTA – European Community Trademark Association and a member of the “Brand Restrictions Committee” at INTA – the International Trademark Association (2020-2021).
