Agenda IDS – “Trade dress infringements: a global view of the issue and the specificities of Brazil”

Dannemann Siemsen Institute (IDS) welcomes experts to speak about relevant issues on trade dress.

Focusing the discussions on infringements of the trade dress of products and services, this event, based on judicial precedents, will debate how the issue has been addressed globally and what its specificities are in Brazil.

To debate the topic, Dannemann Siemsen partner Rafaela Borges Walter Carneiro will moderate a panel with two experts on the subject:

  • Bence Bozóki will discuss the issue from a global perspective.
  • Mauro Ivan C. Ribeiro dos Santos will address the issue and its specificities in Brazil.

Speakers:

Bence Bozóki: Bence is Senior IP Counsel at Mars, supporting the company’s confectionery business globally. Bence specialises in enforcement strategy, trademark litigation, and building a strong global IP portfolio. He is known for his successes in combatting lookalike products. His creative thinking and no-nonsense approach to tackling infringements helped Mars acquire a reputation as a company that enforces its IP rights in a strategic and consistent manner.

Mauro Ivan C. Ribeiro dos Santos Mauro Ivan is a lawyer and partner at Dannemann Siemsen. He has a postgraduate degree in Copyright and Related Rights from King’s College, London University and a master’s degree in Intellectual Property from Boston University, Massachusetts. He works in the administrative and judicial areas for more than 30 years, representing local and foreign clients in intellectual property matters, with emphasis on the management of large trademark portfolios as well as advising on copyright issues and protection against acts of unfair competition.

 Moderator:

Rafaela Borges Walter Carneiro: Rafaela is a lawyer and partner at Dannemann Siemsen. She holds a L.L.M. in Intellectual Property Law from Philipps Universität Marburg, Germany. She works at all levels of the trademark protection process and her expertise includes the strategic management of national and international portfolios, legal representation in the defense of intellectual property rights, and the negotiation and drafting of license, advertising and marketing agreements and contracts.
