IDS welcomed, on September 2nd, INPI’s (BPTO’s) Patent Director, Liane Lage, in São Paulo. The public was able to know, in detail, the Council’s Plan to combat the Patent Backlog. The proposal is to reduce by 80% the number of patent applications that are in the process of granting the so-called backlog. The projections are excellent and the project aims for a period of 2 years for granting patents from the examination request.
Maria Teresa Almeida de Azevedo, an Intellectual Property specialist at the Canavieira Technology Center, spoke about the strategies and expectations of national technology developers in the face of the new INPI scenario.
In the debate, the public pointed out that the INPI initiative demonstrates the institute’s commitment to the development of industries in Brazil, which is seen as quite positive.
